Meet Model Theta
Model Theta is the worlds fastest single molecule-sensitive confocal microscope. With a novel type of scanning stage and a single photon counting camera, an area of 125x65 mm is scanned with high resolution and three high-power lasers. The technology digitalizes the samples simply and intuitively with negligible bleaching. And it’s ludicrously fast, a 15x15 mm area can be scanned in just a few seconds.

A unique feature of Model Theta is the speed with which it can scan an entire thin tissue sample with high resolution. A 15x15 mm sample can be imaged with diffraction limited resolution in 24 seconds. This is at least 10-100 times faster than any other instrument on the market with confocal mode.
3D IMAGES OF 10 000 CELLS IN 1 SECOND
Along with its speed, Model Theta is equipped with a unique single photon-sensitive camera. This camera enables fluorescence images to be captured with exceptionally fast scanning speeds in contrast to other instruments which have to repeat the scanning process to enhance contrast. In addition, the camera allows imaging of weakly fluorescent molecules and distinguishes them from noise and dark counts.
The 3D optics are able to generate 3D images of up to 100 micron thick samples with a depth resolution of 700 nm. In contrast to widefield illumination, the background light is heavily reduced and objects at different depths are separated.
Due to the short exposure time of the sample, photobleaching is heavily reduced.
